During my time as a Creative Writing/Publishing student at Bath Spa University, I completed a semester-long project in which I was a Writer-in-Residence at Bath Spa’s Center for Cultural and Creative Innovation (the CCCI), otherwise known as The Studio.
As a Writer-in-Residence, I interviewed and blogged about the staff, and the work of the residents at The Studio to promote the work that was going on inside its walls.
As part of my residency, I also wrote an article about what it is to be a Writer-in-Residence – an article detailing the things I learnt, my experience, and why being a Writer-in-Residence is valuable to an individual and an organisation.
During the course of my degree I learnt a lot about critique – how to give it, how to receive it, as well as what is good feedback, and what is not. Having the opportunity to workshop my writing is something I consider to be one of the most important take-aways I got out of my degree. As a Student Ambassador for the University at the time, I wrote an article dedicated to soon-to-be creative writing students about what to expect and a few tips that I had learned along the way.
